Today 15 Boat clinics are the only hope for millions during the pandemic. Once implemented, it changed their lives. SOME 20 years ago, Sanjoy Hazarika, Managing Trustee of the Centre for North East Studies & Policy Research (C-NES), mooted an idea to have boat clinics to reach out to millions of people who had no access to basic healthcare facilities. The C-NES initiative is supported by the National Health Mission and the Government of Assam ![]() In far-flung Brahmaputra river islands, these clinics have been providing for last 20 years immunisation to children, pregnant women and new mothers as well as treating vulnerable adult groups.
